With the continuous improvement of national environmental protection policies and strict requirements on carbon emissions, especially the continuous reform and adjustment of my country’s steel industry in the past two years, some steel mills have paid more attention to energy conservation, environmental protection, emission reduction and consumption reduction. Therefore, each steel mill has put forward higher requirements for the demand for furnace materials, and reasonable furnace material structure has been paid more and more attention by major steel enterprises. With the increasing shortage of ore resources, accompanied by the secondary iron-containing resources (sintering dust, blast furnace dust, steelmaking converter, iron scale and other iron-containing raw materials) generated by steel enterprises, these iron-containing raw materials have an iron content of up to 40%-80%. Some enterprises return part of the iron-containing dust mud to sintering for use, but because the material is difficult to form with ordinary binders, the balling performance, sintered ore quality and air permeability do not meet the requirements of blast furnace application, and can only be stored in the waste yard, which not only causes environmental pollution but also wastes resources. How to improve “resource utilization, optimize furnace material structure, improve pellet metallurgical performance”, solve the quality of existing cold-solidified pellet binders and reuse of iron-containing dust mud powder, and realize the development of a virtuous cycle of enterprises has become an important research direction for major universities and research institutions.
The polymer pellet binder produced by Henan Jinhan Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. has strong dispersibility and permeability, which is helpful for film removal and improves the output of pellets. When dried, it can firmly adhere to the surface of the object to form a strong adhesiveness, which can improve the compressive strength of the pellets, reduce the expansion coefficient of the pellets, and improve the falling strength of the raw balls.
Methods of using pellet binders in the steelmaking and ironmaking industries:
1. Process iron-containing raw materials such as sintering dust, blast furnace dust, steelmaking converter, and iron oxide into pellets as required.
2. Cold-solidified pellets have the function of controlling alkalinity during the smelting operation, assisting desulfurization, dephosphorization, deoxidation, and decarbonization, reducing the amount of lime used, and can replace fluorite and ore to reduce the use of scrap steel.
3. Mix with ore and put into the steelmaking furnace as required. The emergence of pellet binders solves the problem of secondary utilization of renewable resources, while reducing production costs and improving efficiency.
